Penn Named Cousy Award Candidate

Springfield, Mass. -- Oklahoma State freshman guard Ray Penn has been nominated for the 2010 Bob Cousy Award, given annually to the nation's top point guard. He is one of just five nominations from the Big 12 Conference.

Penn, a native of Houston, Texas, is averaging 9.4 points and 2.7 assists per game this season. He has started seven of the Cowboys' nine games and has a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio entering Wednesday night's contest at Stanford.

Other Big 12 point guards nominated for the Cousy Award include Denis Clemente of Kansas State, Kansas' Sherron Collins, Diante Garrett of Iowa State and Missouri's J.T. Tiller.

Penn scored a career-high 21 points at Tulsa and dished out a career-best five assists in OSU's last game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He scored 14 points against Utah in the Las Vegas Invitational and was named to the all-tournament team.
