Cowgirls Host Washburn In Exhibition Play
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team will take the floor on Tuesday night for its lone exhibition contest of the 2009-10 season. The Cowgirls will host Washburn at 6 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The contest will serve as the front end of a doubleheader with the OSU men's squad, which will tip following the conclusion of the women's game.
Exhibition Under Budke
The Cowgirls have won all eight of their exhibition contests under head coach Kurt Budke. The lone victory among the six that did not come against East Central or the Oklahoma Flyers occurred during Budke's first season. On Nov. 11, 2005, the Cowgirls knocked off Panhandle State, 86-43.
Scouting Washburn
The Lady Blues opened their season on Sunday afternoon with an 88-60 loss at Iowa. Washburn enters the 2009-10 campaign ranked No. 18 in the USA Today/ESPN Division II Preseason Coaches Poll. The Lady Blues were also picked to finish second in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Washburn is coming off a 27-5 mark a year ago. The Lady Blues also advanced to the regional semifinal round of the Division II NCAA Tournament. The lone returning starter for head coach Ron McHenry is senior guard Brette Ulsaker. Washburn does have a pair of newcomers with Big 12 ties as former Cowgirl Ashley Jappa and former Oklahoma Sooner Rose Hammond are both in their first season at the school.

The Cowgirls have won 33 consecutive home contests against non-conference opponents ... as many as nine players will be making their OSU debut on Tuesday night ... OSU is 8-0 overall in exhibition contests under head coach Kurt Budke ... Washburn will be just the fourth different opponent OSU has faced in exhibition contests during the Budke Era ... the Cowgirls are 4-0 against the Oklahoma Flyers, 3-0 against East Central (Okla.) University and 1-0 against Oklahoma Panhandle State University during exhibition play under Budke ... Budke and Washburn head coach Ron McHenry spent one season as teammates at Washburn.
