Nedovyesov Falls at ITA Indoor Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Oklahoma State men's tennis standout Oleksandr Nedovyesov won his first match of the day Friday to reach the quarterfinal round of the ITA National Indoor Championships, but was eliminated in his next match after a tight battle against Virginia's Michael Shabaz.
The second-seeded Cowboy senior started the day with a quick win over Florida State's Clint Bowles in straight sets, 7-6 (4), 6-1. The win advanced him to a quarterfinal matchup against Shabaz, who knocked off the No. 8-seeded Eric Quigley of Kentucky Thursday.
Nedovyesov, the top-ranked singles player in the ITA preseason rankings, challenged throughout the match, but fell in two sets, 6-4, 7-6 (6).
The loss concludes the Cowboys' fall schedule in 2009. Oklahoma State returns to action for dual play in 2010.
