Cowgirls Continue Play at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team continued its competition at the Razorback Classic Saturday, with the Cowgirls going 2-1 in doubles play, while adding on a pair of wins in singles play.
Oklahoma State's doubles teams cruised through the consolation bracket, as Iryna Khatsko and Alisa Buslaieva, as well as Leyla Simmons and Alexandra Cristello, cruised to victory, 8-3 and 8-4, respectively.
Nataliya Shatkovskaya and Sasha Belova also competed in the doubles bracket, falling in doubles play in for the first time this year.
"We lost a lot of close matches today against good competition," coach Chris Young said. "This tournament has exposed the areas where we still must improve and we will do that. Our girls will be ready to finish strong tomorrow."
In singles play, Shatkovskaya claimed a win over Arkansas' Claudine Paulson in three sets, 7-6(5), 3-6, 10-6, while Buslaieva won over Kansas State's Carmen Borau-Ramos, 6-4, 7-5.
Simmons, Belova, Khatsko and Cristello also competed in singles play, each dropping one match.
The Cowgirls return to action Sunday for the final day of the Razorback Classic.
