Cowgirls Continue Play at ITA Regionals

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma State women's tennis team continued its competition at the 2009 Wilson/ITA Central Region Women's Championships Friday, as athletes competed in the main draw singles, main draw doubles, consolation singles and consolation doubles brackets.
Nataliya Shatkovskaya represented the Cowgirls in main draw singles play after advancing through the first and second rounds on Thursday. Shatkovskaya dropped her match against Minnesota's Tijana Koprivica in two sets, 6-3, 6-2.
In main draw doubles play, Alisa Buslaieva and Iryna Khatsko competed in the round of 16, where they fell to Arkansas' Claudine Paulson and Anouk Tigu, 8-3.
Alexandra Cristello and Iryna Khatsko competed in the consolation singles bracket, where they each won a match in the round of 32 before falling in the round of 16.
Cristello also teamed up with Leyla Simmons in consolation doubles play, where the duo fell to Minnesota's Sperling and Forsyth, 9-7. Shatkovskaya also competed, as she and Sasha Belova took down Kansas State's Huljev and Sertic, 9-7.
Oklahoma State resumes play at the 2009 Wilson/ITA Central Region Women's Championships Saturday as Shatkovskaya and Belova continue play in the consolation doubles bracket.
