LOS ANGELES ÂOklahoma State junior Andrea Riley was one of 20 players named to the midseason list for the women's John R. Wooden Award it was announced today by The Los Angeles Athletic Club's Women's Wooden Award Committee.
One of the nation's most coveted women's college basketball awards, the honor is given to the most outstanding female collegiate basketball player in the nation. The midseason list is based on individual player performance and team records during the first half of the season.
Riley is currently leading the Big 12 in scoring at 23.0 points per game and is second in assists at 6.6 per outing. Both of her totals rank fifth in the country.
Last season, the Dallas, Texas native was named a semifinalist for the award as well as an honorable mention All-American.

More than 300 voters, comprised of sports media members and women's college basketball experts from across the nation, will cast their votes for the five-member All-American team as well as the Wooden Award. Players who do not make the midseason list are still eligible for the national ballot released in March.

The 2009 Award ceremony, which will include the presentation of the Men's and Women's Wooden Award winners and the Legends of Coaching Award to Rick Barnes of the University of Texas, will be held at The Los Angeles Athletic Club the weekend of April 12-13.
