January 23, 2009 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER - Oklahoma State University will honor the victims of the 2001 plane crash with several observances on campus in the coming days.
Kendall Durfey, Bjorn Fahlstrom, Nate Fleming, Will Hancock, Daniel Lawson, Brian Luinstra, Denver Mills, Pat Noyes, Bill Teegins and Jared Weiberg were the 10 members of the men's basketball team travel party who died in a plane crash on Jan. 27, 2001, while returning from a game at Colorado.
A moment of silence will be held prior to the Oklahoma State-Texas A&M women's game on Saturday. That game tips at 6 p.m.
On Monday, Jan. 26, the Cowboys host Oklahoma in a men's basketball game. A moment of silence will be observed during the pregame. At halftime of the Bedlam game, proceeds from the annual "Remember The 10" run will be donated to OSU's counseling services.
The south lobby of the Athletics Center, which features a memorial to the victims, is annually decorated each January by family and friends.
At 10 a.m. on January 27, Dr. David Bosserman, OSU's Vice President for Administration and Finance, along with his executive assistant, Nancy Horner, will decorate the crash site in Colorado.
Later that day, at 6:37 p.m., the OSU Library Carillon will toll 10 times in honor of each of those that have been lost.
The 2009 "Remember The 10" run will be held April 18 in Stillwater. Last year the run had more than 1,200 participants.
