Cowgirls Travel To Waco To Take On Baylor
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (12-3, 1-1) will continue its Big 12 slate on Saturday when it travels to Waco, Texas to take on Baylor (14-1, 2-0) at 7 p.m. inside the Ferrell Center. The No. 22 Cowgirls are coming off a 79-43 win on Wednesday against Colorado, while the fifth-ranked Lady Bears have won eight consecutive games after knocking off Iowa State, 68-57, during the midweek.
OSU vs. Baylor ... The Series
The two teams have squared off 28 times with Baylor winning 19 of those meetings. For just the second time, the Cowgirls swept the season series last year, winning 77-67 in Stillwater before closing out the regular season with a 72-68 win in the Ferrell Center. OSU is 2-11 all time in Waco.
Scouting Baylor
The Lady Bears sit atop the league standings at 2-0 after their 68-57 win over Iowa State in their last outing. Baylor's 14 wins are tied with Kansas State and Texas A&M for tops in the league as well. The Lady Bears are 9-0 this season at home and their lone loss was a 59-58 setback against Wisconsin in November. Led by Danielle Wilson's 8.2 boards per game the Lady Bears are outrebounding their opposition by a league-best 14.3 rebounds per game. Wilson ranks fourth in the league in rebounding and is also among the Big 12 leaders in scoring and blocked shots, ranking sixth with 15.3 points and second with 3.3 blocks per game. The Lady Bears will be the second top-10 team OSU has faced this season, joining then-No. 8 Duke. OSU was the only team to win in 18 tries last season in Waco.
What 2 Watch 4
Shaunte' Smith will be making her 99th career start, tying her for fifth on the school's all-time list with Shelby Hutchens ... OSU head coach Kurt Budke served as the associate head coach at Louisiana Tech for two seasons under first-year Baylor assistant Leon Barmore.
