Cowgirl Basketball Pays Visit To Children's Hospital
September 19, 2008 | Cowgirl Basketball
STILLWATER, Okla.ÂOklahoma State's women's basketball team traveled to Tulsa earlier this week to visit patients at the Children's Hospital at Saint Francis.
On Wednesday, team members met patients in the hospital's pediatric hematology/ oncology clinic as well as those on individual floors. The group, which included OSU mascot Pistol Pete, distributed donated items, including orange teddy bears, to the children.
“You don't realize how much of an influence you can have on a child's life until you walk in and see the look on their face. That made our trip worthwhile and we felt fortunate to have the opportunity, ” Cowgirl senior Taylor Hardeman said. “It makes you appreciate all the things you can do in a day and puts our lives in perspective.”
The visit was coordinated in conjunction with the OSU Coaches vs. Cancer Campaign, which is an American Cancer Society fundraising event.
Currently, the OSU CvC campaign ranks first in the Big 12, first in the High Plains division and is in the top 10 nationally in money raised. OSU's campaign has raised over $600,000 over the past five years.
