Cowboy Tennis To Compete At NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships

Oklahoma State¹s men¹s tennis team will be represented in both singles and doubles action at the 2008 NCAA Division I Men¹s Tennis Championships in Tulsa it has been announced by the men¹s tennis subcommittee.
Cowboy sophomore Oleksandr Nedovyesov, who is one of 18 automatic qualifiers in the 64-player field, received one of the top eight seeds. The Alushta, Ukraine native received an automatic berth due to being ranked in the top 16 nationally and will compete as the No. 3 seed. The 2008 Big 12 Player of the Year currently checks in as the third-ranked player in the country.
Nedovyesov won the Big 12 regular season title at No. 1 singles for the second consecutive year, finishing 5-1 against conference foes. Overall, he compiled a 23-5 record in dual matches for the Cowboys.
Nedovyesov and junior Nathan Byrnes were one of 19 tandems to receive an at-large bid for the 32-team doubles tournament. The duo also captured a Big 12 title this past season after posting a 6-0 record in conference action. OSU¹s No. 1 doubles team is currently ranked 18th nationally and compiled an 11-4 record during the spring slate.
The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 21-26 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The team championship will run from May 16-20.
