April 06, 2008 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley became just the second Cowgirl to garner All-America honors from the nation's coaches on Saturday. The sophomore was named an honorable mention selection to the State Farm Coaches' All-America Team as announced by the Women¹s Basketball Coaches Association.
Liz Brown, who was an honorable mention pick following the 1990-91 season, is the only other Cowgirl to receive the distinction.
Earlier this week, Riley was tabbed as a second-team All-American by the Associated Press and has also received All-America honors from ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated and CBSSports.com this season.
A semifinalist for both the Naismith Trophy and the Wooden Award, Riley was also recognized on Saturday as one of four finalists for the Nancy Lieberman Award honoring the nation's top point guard.
This past season, Riley set single-season school records for points (807), scoring average (23.1 ppg), field goals (268) and minutes played (1,216). The Dallas, Texas native dished out 145 assists, which is the fifth-best total by an OSU player and her 104 steals were the third-highest total in school history.
Riley helped OSU match the school record with 27 wins this season and guided the Cowgirls to the second Sweet 16 berth in school history and first since 1991.
