“It's exciting to get recognized with an honor such as this,” Riley said. “I couldn't have done it without my coaches, my teammates and my family. They push me to be better and have always provided me with so much support.” Riley put together one of the most prolific seasons in Cowgirl basketball history, setting records for points (807), scoring average (23.1 ppg), field goals (268) and minutes played (1,216). The Dallas, Texas native dished out 145 assists, which is the fifth-best total by an OSU player and her 104 steals were the third-highest total in school history. The first Cowgirl to earn AP All-America honors, Riley helped OSU match the school record with 27 wins this season and guided the Cowgirls to the second Sweet 16 berth in school history and first since 1991. Earlier this season, Riley was named a second-team All-American by ESPN.com and Sports Illustrated as well as a third-team pick by CBSSports.com. The 5-5 sophomore was also named a semifinalist for both the Naismith Trophy and the Wooden Award, which honor the nation's top player. A finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award given to the nation's top point guard, Riley was also named the Big 12 Player of the Year by several media outlets. Riley was the lone sophomore named to either the first or second team and was joined on the second team by Crystal Langhorne and Kristi Toliver of Maryland, Erlana Larkins of North Carolina and Angel McCoughtry of Louisville.
