March 07, 2008 | Cowgirl Basketball
Four members of the Oklahoma State women's basketball team were recognized today as the league office announced the 2007-08 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Conference Awards.
Highlighting the list of honorees for the Cowgirls was sophomore Andrea Riley, who was named a first-team All-Big 12 selection. The league's leading scorer at 22.8 points per game, Riley also leads the conference in steals with 2.8 per game and is fifth with her 4.2 assists per contest.
The honor adds to an impressive list of credentials for the Dallas, Texas native, who made the list of semifinalists for both the Naismith Trophy and the Wooden Award honoring the national player of the year. She is also finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, which goes to the nation's top point guard.
Just the second sophomore in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark, Riley was twice named the Big 12 Player of the Week this season.
She is the first Cowgirl to earn first-team honors since the formation of the Big 12.
In addition to Riley, a trio of Cowgirls received honorable mention all-conference honors as seniors Danielle Green and Maria Cordero as well as junior Taylor Hardeman all earned the distinction.
Green, who was an honorable mention pick last season, currently ranks second on the squad in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals.
Cordero was honored for the first time in her career after finishing the regular season with three double-doubles and as the squad's third-leading scorer and rebounder.
Hardeman was also selected for the first time in her career after putting together a season that saw her connect on 49 3-pointers to move into second place on the school's career made 3-pointer list with 113.
The quartet helped the Cowgirls to a 23-6 mark overall and an 11-5 record in league play to earn the No. 3 seed at next week's Big 12 Championship in Kansas City.
