Oklahoma State's women's golf team recorded its second win in its last three outings on Wednesday after posting a 293 score during the final round of the Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kane`ohe Klipper Golf Course.
The Cowgirls, who earned their first victory of the spring on Feb. 27 at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, finished with a 16-over 880 total and 13 shots clear of the field. Arizona entered the day tied with OSU, but wound up in second place after carding a 306 team score during its final round.
The Wildcats did produce the event's individual medalist in Alison Walshe, who finished with a 73 for a 213 total.
“I am pleased with this win because it resulted from a total team effort,” Cowgirl head coach Laura Matthews said. “All five players did their part and it showed with everyone finishing in the top 10.”
Pernilla Lindberg carded her second consecutive 72 to stand alone in second at 218. The finish marked the third top-five outing for the junior in seven starts this season and was the fourth time she has finished among the top 10.
Finishing one place behind Lindberg was senior Tammy Clelland, who posted a 73 on Wednesday for a 220 total and her second top 10 as a Cowgirl.
Junior Karin Kinnerud finished tied for fourth place at 221 after carding a 75 during her final round, while freshman Jaclyn Sweeney rebounded from a 78 during her second round with a closing 73 to move into a tie for seventh place at 224.
