The Oklahoma State women's basketball team will depart for the 2008 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship Thursday afternoon with a send-off planned at the Stillwater Municipal Airport.
The official travel party will depart Stillwater for Des Moines, Iowa, where OSU will play its first two games of the tournament, on a 4 p.m. flight. Fans, friends and family are invited to be at the Stillwater Municipal Airport at 2:30 p.m. for the official send-off.
The Cowgirls, 25-7 on the season after making their first appearance in the Big 12 Tournament championship game, are the No. 3 seed in the New Orleans regional. It is the highest tournament seed ever for the Oklahoma State program. Following a 10-year drought, OSU is playing in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season and for the ninth time overall.
The Cowgirls will face East Tennessee State Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Des Moines' Wells Fargo Arena. The winner of that game advances to face the winner of Ohio State-Florida State on Monday.
