Cowgirl Basketball Watch Party Quotes
March 18, 2008 | Cowgirl Basketball
Head Coach Kurt Budke
On playing on the road
“The Big 12 gets you ready for any kind of road action. We have been playing in front of 10,000 people all year, so it doesn't matter where we play. We have played really well on the road this year. It doesn't bother us to play away from home.”
On earning a No. 3 seed
“We jumped from a No. 10 seed last year to a No. 3 this season. That is an unbelievable jump for this program. It shows the respect for what the Cowgirls are doing. This is an exciting time. To see your name up there on that board with a No. 3 next to it says a lot about where this program is going.”
Freshman Andrea Riley
On earning a No. 3 seed
“I'm just very excited about being a No. 3 seed. I think we earned it, because we have been working hard all year long, and we have still been the underdog. We are just worried about getting past the first two rounds and going to the Sweet 16. We want to go in with a lot of confidence and a lot of motivation.”
On the the program's turnaround in the last two years
“This is very special. Nobody thought we were going to get anywhere. To be able to come in here and help turn a program around is very fun. It motivates me it want to work harder and accomplish even bigger things.”
Senior Maria Cordero
On earning a No. 3 seed
“We are just excited that we are a No. 3 seed. It is just going to be so exciting. Last year, we were just excited to be there. This year, we want to go in there and win. That is what we are going there to do. We want to go in there and just play our hearts out and play together.”
On her and fellow senior Danielle Green's time at OSU
“It just shows how big of a difference we have made. When we came in here, our coaches told us that we would make a difference, and for us to be going out the way we are is awesome.
