Dove Named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year
March 10, 2008 | Cowboy Basketball
Cowboy point guard Byron Eaton was named All-Big 12 Third Team, his first honor. Dove, along with OSU freshman James Anderson, were named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.
Dove was also the only unanimous selection to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. He was joined by Rahshon Clark of Iowa State, Kansas' Mario Chalmers and Russell Robinson and Justin Mason of Texas.
Anderson was selected to the Big 12 All-Rookie Team, joining Michael Beasley and Bill Walker of Kansas State, Oklahoma's Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan of Texas A&M.
In a separate announcement, the Associated Press released its Specialty teams for the Big 12 Conference in a vote of writers who regularly cover the league. OSU was well represented on those teams as well.
Anderson was named to the All-freshman team, while Dove was named to the All-defensive team. Sophomore Obi Muonelo was recognized on the All-reserve squad.
Eaton was named second-team All-Big 12 by the Kansas City Star on Monday morning.
Oklahoma State plays Texas Tech in the opening game of the 2008 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
