Quick Notes
Oklahoma State has won 13 of its last 17 home games against Big 12 North Division opponents. All four of the losses have come in the last two seasons to four different opponents.
With 168 steals, junior guard Byron Eaton is just three away from becoming the all-time career steals leader in school history. Ivan McFarlin is the current record holder with 170 steals from 2001-05.
Guard James Anderson became just the ninth Cowboy in school history to record at least 300 points as a freshman. He currently has 311 points, tying JamesOn Curry for the sixth-most points by a frosh in school history.
Oklahoma State is looking to end a six-game losing streak, the longest since the Cowboys had a six-game skid during the 1986-87 season. The current streak ties for the longest in the last 35 seasons.
Series with the Buffaloes
This will mark the 115th meeting between Oklahoma State and Colorado on the hardwood, including the 46th meeting in Stillwater.
Prior to Colorados 80-78 overtime win two seasons ago in Stillwater, the Cowboys had won 20 straight at home over the Buffaloes dating back to the 1981 season.
These two teams have combined to score 686 points in the last four games. OSU has averaged 86.5 points while Colorado has averaged 85.
Since the Big 12 formed in 1996-97, the series is deadlocked at 6-6 with the Pokes winning the only postseason tournament game of that period.
OSU is 6-3 vs. Colorado in overtime games, including a win on Feb. 5, 1983. That game lasted four overtimes, tying for the longest game in Oklahoma State history.
On the current roster, only Byron Eaton has started two games or more against the Buffaloes. In last years game, he scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out four assists and had just one turnover in 28 minutes of play.
Senior Marcus Dove is the only player on the current roster with a win over Colorado. He played seven minutes and grabbed three rebounds in the Cowboys 104-86 win in Boulder in 2005.
Oklahoma States Arlen Clark established an NCAA record when he hit a perfect 24-of-24 shots from the free-throw line vs. Colorado on March 7, 1959.
Defense Stepping Up
Comparatively speaking, Oklahoma States D has improved dramatically since Big 12 Conference play started.
Although OSUs scoring defense for all games (65.6 points allowed per game) is actually 1/10th of a point lower than its scoring defense for conference-games only (65.7), the rankings dont lie.
The Cowboys scoring defense for all games ranks ninth in the league, while its scoring defense for league games only ranks second behind Kansas.
Oklahoma State allowed an average of 76 points in 16 Big 12 games last season, 10 points higher than this years average.
Pick Pockets
Oklahoma State had 18 steals during the Prairie View A&M game, the second most in school history. The Pokes had 12 at halftime, establishing a school record for steals in a single period.
The Cowboys are currently averaging 9.19 steals per contest. The school record is nine thefts per game, set during the 1988-89 season.
From Long Range
Oklahoma State is averaging 22.2 attempts from beyond the three-point arc this season. The school record is 18.9 attempts per game in 1998-99.
The Cowboys are averaging 7.43 makes from long range this year. The school record is 7.59 during the 1993-94 season.
The Cowboys attempted 34 three-point shots against North Texas, the most in school history.
As a team, Oklahoma State has attempted 30 or more shots from beyond the arc on five occasions all-time, including three times this season (34 at North Texas, 32 vs. East Tennessee State, 31 at Texas Tech).
On the flip side, OSU limited Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to just 1-of-18 shots from three-point range, establishing a Gallagher-Iba Arena record with at least 10 attempts. The previous low was 1-of-17 by Baylor on Jan. 20, 1999.
The Pokes held Northwestern State to 1-of-16 makes from long range and limited Texas Tech to just 1-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
Eaton Moving up Steals Chart
Byron Eaton has recorded 168 steals in his three-year career at OSU.
With two at Texas Tech, he moved past Darwyn Alexander and into third place on the all-time career steals list.
He needs three steals to become the all-time steals leader in school history.
He is just the fifth Cowboy in school history to have at least 10 games with four or more steals.
Eaton is only the seventh Cowboy to have recorded at least 250 assists and 150 steals in a career.
Dove Swatting Shots
Senior Marcus Dove has 89 career blocked shots and is in ninth place on the school career list.
Dove is just the fifth Cowboy in school history to record at least 100 steals and 75 blocked shots in a career. He has 125 and 89, respectively.
As one of the top defensive players in school history, Dove is just the seventh player in school history to record 100 steals, 50 blocks and 250 defensive rebounds in a career.
Freshman Phenom
With 12 points at Texas Tech, James Anderson became just the ninth Cowboy freshman in school history to score 300 points in his rookie season.
He has already secured the record for most treys made (48) and attempted (125) by a frosh in school history. JamesOn Curry was 45-of-104 in his inaugural season and held the previous record for both categories.
In his first official game in an OSU uniform, Anderson scored a game-high 29 points, tying the school record for most points by a freshman. Byron Houston had 29 against Kansas State on Jan. 25, 1989.
Andersons 29 points were also the fourth-most by any Cowboy in a season opener, regardless of class.
He has scored at least 20 points on six occasions this season. The school record for a freshman is 14 set by Richard Dumas during the 1987-88 season.
Another Rookie Stepping Up
Freshman post Ibrahima Thomas has been stepping up for the Cowboys as well. Over the last 11 games all starts the 6-11 rookie is averaging eight points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
In his first 10 games, the Senegal native was averaging 4.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest.
He recorded his first-career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds at Texas Tech, matching his career high (set vs. Texas Tech in Stillwater) and setting a career high in rebounds.
The versatile forward is shooting 55.3 percent for the season from the floor, including 30-of-47 (63.8 percent) over the last nine contests.
He has made 8-of-21 (38.1 percent) of his attempts from long range this year.
Thomas also leads the team in charges taken with 14 this season, including two in the Oklahoma contest.
Harris, Eaton Like the Freebies
Byron Eaton leads the Big 12 Conference in free-throw shooting, the only player in the rankings shooting better than 80 percent.
Teammate Terrel Harris fell out of the rankings, although he would be on top if he met the league minimum of 2.5 makes per game. He is averaging 2.33 per game played.
Cowboys No. 2 in Big 12 in Steals
Oklahoma State averages 9.19 steals per game, the second-highest average of any Big 12 team this season.
Kansas leads the league, averaging 9.7 per contest.
Missouri is third in the Big 12, averaging nine thefts per game.
Three Cowboys Rank in the top-10
Three Cowboys are ranked in the top-10 individually in the Big 12 Conference in steals per game.
Kansas Mario Chalmers leads the league, averaging 2.45 steals per game.
Marcus Dove and Byron Eaton are tied for second with 2.24 steals per game.
Terrel Harris ranks ninth with 1.67 per contest.
Cowboys Third in Long-Range Shooting
Oklahoma State averages 7.43 three-pointers made per game, the third-highest average of any Big 12 team this season.
Baylor leads the league, averaging just under nine treys per contest.
Texas is second in the Big 12, averaging 7.76 three-pointers per game.
