Cowboys Down Frogs in Fort Worth

The 15th-ranked Cowboys jumped on TCU early as sophomore Oleksandr Nedovyesov and junior Nathan Byrnes upended the 14th-ranked duo of Cosmin Cotet and Kriegler Brink at No.1 doubles. OSU continued to roll as senior Ivan Puchkarov and sophomore Dmytro Petrov pulled out a tough match at No. 2 to give OSU the doubles point.
In singles play, sophomore Oleksandr Nedovyesov was upset by TCU's Cosmin Cotet, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6, at No. 1, but the Pokes overcame the setback behind a solid effort from Puchkarov, Petrov, and freshman Anton Bobystkyi.
At No. 2 Puchkarov defeated Emanu Brighiu, 6-1, 5-7, 6-1, in a tough match. Petrov picked up a 6-4, 7-5, win over TCU's Adrian Simon, while Bobystki took care of Casey Powers, 6-3, 6-3.
OSU head coach James Wadley said he is proud of the way his guys battled in doubles play on their way to beating a tough opponent.
“Obviously, TCU is a very good team and I'm very proud of the way our guys fought,” said Wadley. “We came out tough in doubles play, and in singles play, Puchkarov and Petrov continued to play at the high level they have been. This is a great win for our guys.”
