Postgame Notes vs. Kansas
Saturday, February 23, 2008
Oklahoma State beat back-to-back ranked opponents (No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 5 Kansas) for the first time since the end of the 2003-04 season when the Cowboys defeated No. 9 Pittsburgh and No. 5 Saint Josephs en route to the Final Four.
It was OSUs first win over a top-five team since defeating Syracuse 74-60 on Dec. 7, 2004, in the Jimmy V Classic in Madison Square Garden.
Junior guard Byron Eaton scored a career-high 26 points, including 16 free throws, a career best.
Eatons 16 free-throws made are the most by a Cowboy since Rick Anderson connected on 17 on Feb. 6, 1985. Coincidentally, that was also versus Kansas.
Eatons 18 free-throw attempts are the most by a Cowboy since Bryant Reeves attempted 19 against Missouri on Jan. 22, 1995.
Oklahoma States 21 rebounds were a season low. Its the fewest by OSU since grabbing 21 at Nebraska on March 5, 2007, a span of 30 games.
OSU is now 10-19 in the Sean Sutton era when shooting worse than its opponent.
Eaton is averaging 22.7 points over his last three games and is 32-of-36 (88.9 percent) from the free-throw line over that span.
