Oklahoma State Coach Sean Sutton
On the game
That was a good win for our team. Im really proud of our players. They came off what was probably our worst game in the Big 12 last weekend against Kansas State and they responded in this game. All our players really played well tonight. Thats the best theyve played together in one game this year that I can remember. They all came to play. Its one of the best games Byron (Eaton) has ever had in an Oklahoma State uniform. Thats the way I envisioned him playing when we recruited him. He was aggressive at both ends of the court. He did a good job at running the team and he played well. So did Terrel Harris. During the first half we played better at both ends of the court than we have all year long. I thought the second half we didnt come out as sharp but we hung in there and made enough plays to win the game.
On Byron Eatons performance
I thought Byron set the tone for us with his aggressive play early in the game. He got after (Curtis) Jerrells and that was a challenging match-up. He had to win the battle at point guard. Byron played with a lot of confidence in the game.
On Terrel Harris performance
I felt like he let the game come to him. He took good shots and took care of the basketball. He only had one turnover. He got nine rebounds and came up with two really big put-backs in the second half. Hopefully this will get him going down the stretch.
Oklahoma State Guard Byron Eaton
On shutting down Curtis Jerrells
He is the main key of their team and if he gets going, he gets his team going. I just wanted to put pressure on him and once I did that, it got our team going. That defeat in Manhattan on Saturday really put a fire in us and we were ready to come out and play.
On the mood of his team at halftime
It was great. We were excited. Before coach came in, Marcus (Dove) and I just told everybody, No letups. (Baylor) came out after the half and got back into it, but then we kicked the lead back up to 17, and then 19. They would go on a run then we would go on a run. We just tried to do the same things that got us the lead in the first half.
Oklahoma State Forward Marcus Dove
On the game
We just came out really energetic and put a lot of pressure on their guards. We tried to slow down (Curtis) Jerrells, (Henry) Dugat, and (Aaron) Bruce, and I think we did a good job of that. We were hitting shots and we really played a great game tonight.
Our main focus was on their guards. We wanted to make them give the ball to their big men and make them make plays. (Ibrahima) Thomas and Martavius (Adams) did a great job of trapping.
Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
On the game
Well I think first half for some reason we didnt come ready to play, didnt get any loose balls, no 50-50 balls. I was disappointed with our teams intensity early on. I do want to credit because I think they had something to do with that. They were quick to the ball, extremely focused, and wanted the game more.
Its a tough place to play, but defensively we have to be solid no matter where your at. The last few losses the defense has let us down.
We try to outscore people rather than stop them, and that has to change.
I felt Byron Eaton controlled the whole tempo of the night. He was the best guard on the floor and he did a great job. He had two turnovers and just really ran things.
Baylor Guard Tweety Carter
On Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State is a good team. Dont let their record fool you. They come out and play hard every game and every day. We knew coming in here it was going to be a battle no matter what. They came out and just attacked us. Byron Eaton got his team going and he is a great point guard. Thats why they got the win today. They came out and played harder than us.
Its a game of runs and we cant keep depending on that. We gotta come out and attack and not let them dictate the momentum and thats what they did tonight.
On the game
It happens. We came out a little flat tonight. As a team we gotta play through that. We gotta come out and not get 20 down at half. Thats tough to come back from for any team. Oklahoma State just kept the lead and they got the win.
Baylor Guard LaceDarius Dunn
On playing better in the second half
We got together in the locker room and talked it over and came out the second half and tried to give it our all. Like Tweedy said, we cant get down by 20. Its hard to come back, especially playing a great team like Oklahoma State.
On getting back on track
Hopefully, you know losing four out of five games is not good. Were going into a home game on Saturday against Texas, so we just gotta come back and work hard and give it our all. Texas is not just going to give it to us. No team is going to give it to us. We just gotta get out there and want it, to just play hard and leave it all out on the court.
