Cowgirls Set For Exhibition Against Oklahoma Flyers
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team will play the second of its two exhibition contests on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Cowgirls host the Oklahoma Flyers inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The game is OSU's final tune-up before turning its attention to a season-opening contest at Duke on Nov. 14. Saturday's contest was originally slated for a 5 p.m. start, but has been made the front end of a doubleheader with the men's squad. The time change was made to accommodate fans wanting to take in OSU's football game on Saturday night as well.
Exhibition RewindÂA Recent History
The Cowgirls have won their last nine exhibition contests overall, dating back to a 78-67 loss on Nov. 13, 2003 against Northwest Sports Tours. OSU is 10-1 in its last 11 exhibitions. The Cowgirls most common opponent during that stretch has been the Oklahoma Flyers, who have dotted the schedule in each of the past five years. OSU is 5-0 against the Flyers, 3-0 against East Central, and has one win against both Panhandle State and Baden Sports during that span.
Scouting The Flyers
The Flyers have already played one-fourth of their eight-game schedule, suffering an 83-82 defeat at Cameron on Nov. 1 before dealing Midwestern State a 93-91 loss the following night. In the win over the Mustangs, former Oklahoma City standout
Kesha Watson poured in 41 points, including 30 in the second half.
Familiar Foes
Oklahoma State's two exhibition opponents should come as no surprise to Cowgirl fans. For the third consecutive season, East Central and the Oklahoma Flyers will serve as OSU's exhibition opponents.
Exhibition Under Budke
The Cowgirls have won all seven of their exhibition contests under head coach Kurt Budke. The lone victory among the six that did not come against East Central or the Oklahoma Flyers occurred during Budke's first season. On Nov. 11, 2005, the Cowgirls knocked off Panhandle State, 86-43.
