Andrea Riley Named Preseason Associated Press All-American

STILLWATER, Okla.—Oklahoma State junior Andrea Riley was one of five players named to the Associated Press' preseason All-America team it was announced today.
Joining the Cowgirl guard on the squad were Connecticut's Maya Moore, Louisville's Angel McCoughtry, Maryland's Kristi Toliver and Oklahoma's Courtney Paris.
"There are so many people in this nation that work hard and to be considered one of the five best is incredible," Riley said.
Riley is coming off one of the most productive seasons in Big 12 and school history. As a sophomore, she set a new league record with 807 points and established a new school scoring average mark with her 23.1 points per game. Riley also recorded 145 assists and 104 steals on the year, giving her the fifth- and third-highest totals in school history, respectively.
As a team, the Cowgirls matched the school record with 27 wins, reaching the Big 12 Championship title game and making their first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance since 1991.
Riley earned second-team recognition a year ago, making her the first Cowgirl to earn AP All-America honors. The Dallas, Texas native was also named a semifinalist for both the Naismith Trophy and the Wooden Award as well as a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award.
The Cowgirls, who are ranked No. 14 in the AP preseason Top 25 poll, tip off the 2008-09 campaign tonight in Stillwater at 7 p.m. with an exhibition contest against East Central.
