Cowboys Fall to Fifth-Ranked Spartans, 94-79
November 30, 2008 | Cowboy Basketball
The Cowboys took a seven-point lead four minutes into the game when James Anderson hit a three-pointer to put OSU up 12-5. The Pokes led again by seven at 14-7 at the 15:24 mark, but after that, Michigan State went on a 12-0 run for a five-point lead and never trailed again.
Senior Terrel Harris led the Cowboys with 21 points and had six rebounds. Three other Pokes reached double figures with Obi Muonelo scoring 15 points, Byron Eaton 14 and James Anderson 13. However, OSU shot just 42.9 percent from the floor, compared to a 59.3 percent performance by the Spartans, who were led by Raymar Morgan's 29 points.
Michigan State constantly broke OSU's full-court press and made several easy layups as a result. While most of the final game statistics were very similar, the most glaring difference was MSU's 44-22 margin in points in the paint. The Spartans also scored 14 fastbreaks points to the Cowboys' four.
Oklahoma State (4-2) will face the Siena Saints (2-2) on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
