About Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State is 2-0 this season with wins over UTSA (76-57) and North Texas (100-88). The Cowboys are led by senior guard Terrel Harris who is averaging 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest. Sophomore guard James Anderson is averaging 19 points and 7.5 boards per game, while senior guard Byron Eaton has averages of 16.5 points and 4.0 assists in two games. Freshman guard Keiton Page is averaging double figures as well at 11 points per contest. As a team, OSU is shooting 47.2 percent from the floor, although the Cowboys 38.6 percent from beyond the three-point arc is healthy. Oklahoma State has committed just 17 turnovers in two games while forcing 25. The Cowboys have been outrebounded by 5.5 boards per contest. Without Ibrahima Thomas 0-for-4 effort from the line, OSU is shooting 82.7 percent at the charity stripe.
About Tulsa
Tulsa is 1-0 this season after a low-scoring 50-43 victory over Oral Roberts in the Mayors Cup last Saturday. Ben Uzoh had a game-high 20 points for the Golden Hurricane while Glenn Andrews added 11. Center Jerome Jordan had eight points and 10 rebounds in the victory. It was a defensive battle as TU shot just 39.2 percent from the floor, including 2-of-12 from beyond the arc. ORU shot even worse, shooting just 30 percent from the field and 3-of-18 from long range. The Golden Hurricane outrebounded the Golden Eagles, 45-33.
Quick Notes
The OSU-TU series has been renewed after a 12-year hiatus ... this series has the most games of any OSU series with a non-conference opponent ... in fact, it is the eighth-longest series for OSU behind the seven other former Big Eight schools ... the series went 22 consecutive seasons from 1975 until it ended in 1996 ... in 104 meetings, only once has the OSU-TU game gone into overtime (a 32-27 OSU win on Jan. 11, 1939) ... the last time these two turnpike rivals played, president Bill Clinton had won his re-election bid over Bob Dole just 17 days earlier and freshman Keiton Page was just seven years old ... its 62.74 miles nearly due west from the Reynolds Center on the Tulsa campus to Gallagher-Iba Arena ... OSU is 147-3 (98 percent) in home non-conference games since the 1987-88 season.
