Cowgirl Equestrian Starts Big 12 Campaign with Win

Oklahoma State Equestrian started the homecoming celebration early Saturday morning with a 15-9 win over Baylor in Stillwater.
The fifth-ranked Cowgirls improved to 3-0 on the year, while the No. 6 Bears fell to 3-1.
The Western team has now won both shows this season to move to 2-0 while the English has won all three competitions they have been a part of this season.
In the Western disciplines on Saturday, the Cowgirls won by a score of 8-4 over the Bears. The Cowgirls started the day with a 3-3 tie in the horsemanship discipline. Sophomore Courtney Whitacre picked up the MVP for the discipline with a win of 75-72.5 over Baylor's McCoy.
Along with Whitacre, Senior Jordan Pickelman and sophomore Margaux Tucker also earned victories for the Cowgirls. Whitacre, Pickelman, and Tucker all remain undefeated for the season in the horsemanship category.
To round out the day for the Western team the reining girls won by a score of 5-1. Sophomore Brianna Parnell picked up the MVP in the category with a 73-68.5 victory over Baylor's Riddle. In addition to Parnell, senior Jacque Roberts and juniors Leah Kuehn, Rachell Shobe, and Molly Tipton also picked up victories in the reining discipline.
Parnell, Roberts, Kuehn, Shobe, and Tipton are all 2-0 this season.
In the Hunt Seat competition the Cowgirls defeated the Bears 7-5.
The English team started off the day with a 3-3 tie in the equitation over fences category. Senior Jaclyn Osterstock, junior Ally Blais and sophomore Alice White picked up the three victories for the Cowgirls in the discipline. Osterstock picked up her third win on the season in the fences category.
The Cowgirls finished off the day with a 4-2 victory in the equitation on the flat discipline. Senior Sam Collingsworth picked up the MVP in this discipline for her second in three shows. Seniors Charlotte Collingsworth and Sarah Summers and sophomore Ally Blais pick up the other three victories in the category.
Charlotte Collingsworth, Sam Collingsworth, Summers, and Blais all move to stay undefeated and move to 3-0 on the season.
The Cowgirls will be in action next against Fresno State University on October 25 in Fresno, Calif.
