Oklahoma State Impresses at Regional Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma State senior Nathan Byrnes and sophomore Anton Bobytskyi advanced to the round of 16 at the 2008 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships winning back-to-back matches Friday morning.
Byrnes stormed past Oklahoma's Blake Boswell, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1. The 10 seed proceeded to the second round, where he defeated Filip Miljevic of Illinois State, 6-3, 7-6 (8).
Bobytskyi opened the tournament with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Anton Leonenko of Southern Illinois. In the second round, Bobytskyi cruised past Matt Walters of Arkansas, 7-6 (5), 6-2.
The number one seeded Byrnes/ Oleksandr Nedovyesov tandem rolled past a LeMoine-Hobson duo from Illinois State, 8-4. They will continue play Saturday in the second round.
Byrnes and Bobytskyi will both face tough opponents Saturday as Byrnes takes on the number two seed Andrei Daescu of Oklahoma, and Bobytskyi will challenge third seed David Bendheim of Nebraska.
The two must advance to the finals match to qualify for National Indoors in Charlottesville, Va.
