Andrea Riley Named To Preseason All-Big 12 Team

IRVING, Texas ÂIn a vote of the league's head coaches, Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley was one of five players selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team it was announced on Wednesday.
Riley enters her junior campaign after delivering one of the most productive seasons in school history a year ago. The 5-5 guard averaged 23.1 points, 4.1 assists 3.7 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. She also guided the Cowgirls to a 27-8 record and a berth in the NCAA Sweet 16, earning all-conference honors in the process.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Riley has been tabbed by several preseason publications as an All-American as well. Lindy's and Sporting News both named her a first-team selection, while Athlon Sports selected her as a member of its second team.
All three magazines also have the Cowgirls ranked among the top 25. Lindy's and Sporting News both ranked head coach Kurt Budke's squad No. 12 nationally and Athlon Sports placed OSU 17th in its poll.
Riley was joined on the preseason all-league squad by Kansas State's Shalee Lehning, Nebraska's Kelsey Griffin, Oklahoma Courtney Paris and Texas A&M's Takia Starks.
The Cowgirls will get the 2008-09 season underway on Nov. 4 with an exhibition contest against East Central in Stillwater. OSU will open the regular season on Nov. 14 at Duke.
