Kurt Budke Among Inaugural Trinity Valley Hall of Fame Inductees

Athens, Texas—Oklahoma State head women's basketball coach Kurt Budke is among 10 individuals who comprise Trinity Valley Community College's inaugural hall of fame class.
“It's a tremendous honor to go in with the first class,” Budke said. “This group is filled with legends and some of the best athletes in school history.”
Budke served as the head coach for the Lady Cardinals from 1993-2000. During his seven-year tenure, TVCC captured four national championships and twice finished as the national runner-up. Budke finished his first season with a 35-1 mark and his first national championship. After winning back-to-back national crowns in 1996 and 1997, he led the program to a 36-0 mark during the 1998-99 season, including the fourth of the school's five national titles.
The national coach of the year in 1995 and 1998, Budke amassed a 226-16 record during his tenure in Athens, losing only twice at home. In addition, his squads compiled a 96-2 conference record and won the Texas East Conference championship seven times.
Entering his fourth season at Oklahoma State, Budke has tallied a 53-41 mark in Stillwater, including a 27-8 record and a berth in the NCAA Sweet 16 last season.
The school's induction ceremony will take place at the Cardinal Hall of Fame banquet on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the TVCC Student Union Ballroom.
Joining Budke on this year's list of inductees will be Leon Spencer, Connie “CJ” Russell, Bob Baccarini, Margene Adkins, Inez Perez, Ron Thomas, Stan Cloudy, Portia Hill and Shalonda Enis.
