In the last 21 seasons, since 1987-88, the Cowboys have won 144 of their last 147 non-conference games inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Thats good for a 98.0 winning percentage.
Oklahoma State has played eight games against NAIA opponents over the past decade, including four exhibition contests. The Cowboys have won all eight games, with the closest being a 74-58 victory over Saint Gregorys on Jan. 20, 2001. Former Cowboy and current radio analyst Bryndon Manzer was the head coach at Saint Gregorys at the time.
Wren Baker, the head coach and athletic director at Rogers State, was a member of the Cowboy Basketball staff from 2001-05. He served as the administrative assistant for the Cowboys.
From Long Range
Of OSUs 749 shot attempts this season, 288 have been from beyond the three-point arc, or 38.5 percent.
The highest percentage for a single season is 33.5 percent in 1998-99, when 643 of the Pokes 1,920 shots were from long range.
The Cowboys attempted 34 three-point shots against North Texas, the most in school history.
The previous record was 31 attempts from long range against Gonzaga in the All-College Classic in Oklahoma City on Dec. 28, 2004.
As a team, Oklahoma State has attempted 30 or more shots from beyond the arc on four occasions all-time, including twice this season (34 at North Texas, 32 vs. East Tennessee State).
On the flip side, OSU limited Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to just 1-of-18 shots from three-point range, establishing a Gallagher-Iba Arena record with at least 10 attempts. The previous low was 1-of-17 by Baylor on Jan. 20, 1999.
The Pokes held Northwestern State to 1-of-16 makes from long range.
Forcing Turnovers
Oklahoma State has forced 263 turnovers this season, an average of just over 20 per game. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have committed just under 16.5 miscues per game, a +3.77 turnover margin.
The highest turnover margin for a single season in school history occurred during the 1997-98 season, when OSU had a +3.52 turnover margin.
Pick Pockets
Oklahoma State had 18 steals during the Prairie View A&M game, the second most in school history. The Pokes had 12 at halftime, establishing a school record for steals in a single period.
The Cowboys are currently averaging 10.2 steals per contest. The school record is nine thefts per game, set during the 1988-89 season.
Eaton Moving up Steals Chart
Byron Eaton has recorded 150 steals in his three-year career at OSU.
With three at Pittsburgh, he moved past Doug Gottlieb and into the top-10 in school history.
The Dallas, Texas, native is also just the fifth Cowboy in school history to have at least 10 games with four or more steals.
The all-time career record at Oklahoma State is 170 steals set by Ivan McFarlin from 2001-05.
Eaton is only the seventh Cowboy to have recorded at least 250 assists and 150 steals in a career.
Dove Swatting Shots
Senior Marcus Dove has 76 career blocked shots, moving past Andrew Jones for ninth place on the school list.
Dove has blocked four shots on two occasions, most recently vs. Northwestern State on Nov. 15, 2006.
Dove is just the fifth Cowboy in school history to have blocked at least 75 shots and recorded at least 100 steals in a career. Dove has 76 and 105.
Freshman Phenom
Freshman guard James Anderson is 13 games into his collegiate career and has shown that he could potentially be one of the best players to ever come through Stillwater.
In his first official game in an OSU uniform, Anderson scored a game-high 29 points, tying the school record for most points by a freshman. Byron Houston had 29 against Kansas State on Jan. 25, 1989.
Andersons 29 points were also the fourth-most by any Cowboy in a season opener, regardless of class.
He has scored at least 20 points on six occasions this season. The school record for a freshman is 14 set by Richard Dumas during the 1987-88 season.
Dumas holds the school single-season scoring average mark for a freshman with 17.4 points per game.
OSU in the Big 12 Rankings
Oklahoma State ranks in the Big 12s top five in five statistical categories.
The Cowboys lead the league in free-throw shooting at 72.3 percent.
OSU is third the league in steals, averaging 10.15 thefts per game. Kansas leads the conference at 11.36 steals per game, while Missouri is second at 10.21 steals per contest.
Oklahoma State is third in three-pointers made per game, averaging 7.77 treys per contest. Baylor leads the league at 9.00 per game, while Texas is second at 7.87 per contest.
The Cowboys are also third in three-point field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 33.2 percent from beyond the arc. Missouri is allowing a 23.6 shooting percentage while Oklahoma is allowing 29.0 percent.
The Pokes are fifth in the Big 12 in turnover margin at +3.77.
Individually, freshman James Anderson ranks fourth in the league in scoring at 16.9 points per game. He ranks third in three-point field goals made per game at 2.46, is fourth in three-point percentage at 43.2 percent and ninth in free-throw percentage (73.5 percent).
Byron Eaton is second in the Big 12 with his 85.5 free-throw shooting percentage, trailing only MUs Stefon Hannah at 85.7 percent. He is seventh in the Big 12 with his 2.15 assist-to-turnover ratio and 10th in assists at 3.3 per game.
Marcus Dove is second in the league in steals with 2.69 thefts per contest. Eaton is tied for fourth in the same category, averaging 2.23 per contest. Terrel Harris is ninth at 1.69 steals per game.
OSU Ranks High in APR
Oklahoma State had the second-highest Academic Progress Rate in the Big 12 Conference for the 2005-06 academic year, released this past summer by the NCAA.
This report is based on APR information submitted by member institutions for the 2003-04, 2004-05, and 2005-06 academic years.
The Cowboys APR of 966 is much higher than the Division I basketball average of 927 and the average of 917 for public institutions.
Other notables include North Carolina (993), Duke (972), Georgetown (970), UCLA (965), Stanford (955), Memphis (916) and Pittsburgh (907).
Cowboys Remain Among Leagues Best
Since the beginning of the 2003-04 season, Oklahoma State has compiled 103 wins, the third-most by a Big 12 team during that period.
The Cowboys have a 69.6 winning percentage during that span.
OSU is the last Big 12 school to advance to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.
Oklahoma State, Kansas and Texas are the only three Big 12 schools to advance to the Sweet 16 twice in the last four seasons.
