Quick Notes
Oklahoma State is playing its second of four-consecutive games on ESPN. In fact, OSU is currently in the midst of five ESPN-televised games in six contests.
Monday night will mark the eighth of 13 games this season televised by either ESPN, espn2 or ABC.
OSU has won 18 of its last 22 games against Big 12 South Division foes inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
OSU is 9-1 at home this season, allowing just 56.2 points per game. Opponents are shooting just 24.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc in those 10 games.
The Cowboys have a +5.5 turnover margin in Gallagher-Iba Arena this season. The opponents are averaging 21 turnovers per game on Eddie Sutton Court.
With 161 steals, junior guard Byron Eaton is just 10 away from becoming the all-time career steals leader in school history. Ivan McFarlin is the current record holder with 170 steals from 2001-05.
Despite a 1-3 record in league play, the Cowboys still have a positive scoring margin against Big 12 games. OSU is averaging 68 points and allowing 67.5 per game.
Series History with the Aggies
This will be the 39th meeting between these two schools on the hardwood all-time, and the 24th meeting since the Big 12 Conference was formed.
OSU is 27-11 all-time vs. Texas A&M and 19-4 since the Big 12 formed, including last years meeting in the Big 12 Tournament.
Three of the Aggies four wins since joining the Big 12 have come in the last four meetings. Prior to that, the Cowboys had won 12-consecutive games and 20 of 21 in the series.
Five of A&Ms 11 victories were at the start of the series, from 1918 until 1924.
Texas A&M won for the first time in Stillwater for the first time in more than 80 years last season, pinning a 66-46 loss on the Cowboys.
Oklahoma States two losses last season were by an average of 19 points per game. The Cowboys defeated the Aggies in the Big 12 Tournament, 57-56.
Junior guard Terrel Harris has scored 38 points on Texas A&M in five outings, including a 6-of-12 performance from beyond the three-point arc and connecting on 12-of-14 free throws.
Marcus Dove, Byron Eaton and Harris have a combined 10 starts against A&M over the past two seasons.
In 10 wins in Gallagher-Iba Arena since the Big 12 formed, OSU has outscored the Aggies by an average of 17.5 points per victory.
Remember the 10
Oklahoma State University will remember the 10 members of its family that were lost in the Jan. 27, 2001, plane crash with several observances this weekend.
Moments of silence will be observed at all three weekend home events: the mens basketball game against Texas A&M at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the womens basketball game vs. Kansas State at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, and the Cowboy wresting match against Iowa State at 6 p.m. Sunday night.
A special presentation is planned for halftime of the mens game.
The southwest lobby of Gallagher-Iba Arena, home to OSUs Memorial, will open at 11 a.m. on Sunday and will remain available to the public throughout the day.
On each anniversary, the memorial has been heavily decorated by family, friends and many others who are part of the extended OSU family.
Also on Sunday, at 6:37 p.m., the OSU Library Carillon will once again toll 10 times in honor of each of those who have been lost.
Dr. David Bosserman, OSUs Vice President for Administration, will depart for the Colorado memorial on Saturday. They will lay a wreath at the Colorado crash site as they have done on each of the anniversaries.
The second annual Remember The 10 run is set for April 19 in Stillwater. Last year, the inaugural run attracted more than 900 participants.
From Long Range
Of OSUs 1,016 shot attempts this season, 391 have been from beyond the three-point arc, or 38.5 percent.
The highest percentage for a single season is 33.5 percent in 1998-99, when 643 of the Pokes 1,920 shots were from long range.
OSU has attempted fewer than 20 three-pointers just five times this season.
The Cowboys attempted 34 three-point shots against North Texas, the most in school history.
As a team, Oklahoma State has attempted 30 or more shots from beyond the arc on four occasions all-time, including twice this season (34 at North Texas, 32 vs. East Tennessee State).
On the flip side, OSU limited Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to just 1-of-18 shots from three-point range, establishing a Gallagher-Iba Arena record with at least 10 attempts. The previous low was 1-of-17 by Baylor on Jan. 20, 1999.
The Pokes held Northwestern State to 1-of-16 makes from long range and limited Texas Tech to just 1-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
Pick Pockets
Oklahoma State had 18 steals during the Prairie View A&M game, the second most in school history. The Pokes had 12 at halftime, establishing a school record for steals in a single period.
The Cowboys are currently averaging 9.61 steals per contest. The school record is nine thefts per game, set during the 1988-89 season.
Eaton Moving up Steals Chart
Byron Eaton has recorded 161 steals in his three-year career at OSU.
With three at Iowa State, he moved past Desmond Mason (158 steals), Victor Williams (158) and Byron Houston (159) and into fourth place on the all-time career steals list.
He needs seven steals to move into third place and 10 to become the all-time steals leader in school history.
He is just the fifth Cowboy in school history to have at least 10 games with four or more steals.
Eaton is only the seventh Cowboy to have recorded at least 250 assists and 150 steals in a career.
Dove Swatting Shots
Senior Marcus Dove has 83 career blocked shots and is in ninth place on the school career list.
He has blocked four shots on two occasions, including this year vs. NSU.
Dove is just the fifth Cowboy in school history to record at least 100 steals and 75 blocked shots in a career. He has 118 and 83, respectively.
As one of the top defensive players in school history, Dove is just seven defensive rebounds away from becoming the seventh player in school history to record 100 steals, 50 blocks and 250 defensive rebounds.
Freshman Phenom
Freshman guard James Anderson is 18 games into his collegiate career and has shown that he could potentially be one of the best players to ever come through Stillwater.
In his first official game in an OSU uniform, Anderson scored a game-high 29 points, tying the school record for most points by a freshman. Byron Houston had 29 against Kansas State on Jan. 25, 1989.
Andersons 29 points were also the fourth-most by any Cowboy in a season opener, regardless of class.
He has scored at least 20 points on six occasions this season. The school record for a freshman is 14 set by Richard Dumas during the 1987-88 season.
Dumas holds the school single-season scoring average mark for a freshman with 17.4 points per game.
Harris, Eaton 1-2 in Big 12 Free Throw Shooting
The Oklahoma State backcourt duo of Terrel Harris and Byron Eaton are Nos. 1 and 2 in the Big 12 statistical rankings for free-throw shooting.
Harris leads the league with his 84.9 percent shooting.
Eaton is second, connecting on 65-of-80 shots from the charity stripe, good for 81.3 percent.
Cowboys No. 2 in Big 12 in Steals
Oklahoma State averages 9.61 steals per game, the second-highest average of any Big 12 team this season.
Kansas leads the league, averaging just over 10.5 per contest.
Missouri is third and just below the Cowboys at 9.58 thefts per game.
Cowboys Third in Long-Range Shooting
Oklahoma State averages 7.39 three-pointers made per game, the third-highest average of any Big 12 team this season.
Baylor leads the league, averaging nine treys per contest.
Texas is second in the Big 12, averaging 7.83 three-pointers per game.
Cowboys Remain Among Leagues Best
Since the beginning of the 2003-04 season, Oklahoma State has compiled 106 wins, the third-most by a Big 12 team during that period.
The Cowboys have a 68.8 winning percentage during that span.
OSU is the last Big 12 school to advance to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.
Oklahoma State, Kansas and Texas are the only three Big 12 schools to advance to the Sweet 16 twice in the last four seasons.
