Quick Notes
In the last 21 seasons, since 1987-88, the Cowboys have won 143 of their last 146 non-conference games inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Thats good for a 97.9 winning percentage.
Oklahoma State has won nine of its last 10 games played following the ringing in of the new year. The lone loss during that span was vs. Texas on Jan. 5, 2002.
OSU is 41-5 (89.1 percent) all-time against teams from the Southland Conference, including a 4-0 mark vs. UTSA. The Pokes are 10-1 vs. Texas-Arlington following a 69-64 win over the Mavericks two games ago, 8-1 against Northwestern State following an 82-36 win in their last outing, 6-1 against Lamar, 6-0 vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (played on Dec. 5), 3-0 vs. Southeastern Louisiana, 2-2 against Stephen F. Austin and 2-0 vs. Sam Houston State. The Cowboys have never played Central Arkansas, McNeese State, Nicholls State or Texas State.
The current three-game span against Southland Conference foes (Texas-Arlington, Northwestern State and UTSA) is the first time that OSU has played three consecutive games against non-conference opponents from the same league since the 1972-73 season. That year, the Cowboys played three-straight games vs. Texas A&M in Tulsa, at Texas and at Baylor, all members of the Southwest Conference at the time. OSU played three consecutive games over a two-season span against current Big East schools Marquette, Louisville and Providence, but Marquette and Louisville were not members of that league at that time.
Series History with the Roadrunners
This will be the fifth meeting between these two schools, with Oklahoma State winning the previous four meetings.
OSUs average margin of victory in the previous four meetings has been just over 28 points per game.
Maurice Baker recorded just the second triple-double in school history when he scored 19 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 10 assists against UTSA on Jan. 3, 2001.
Brooks Thompson, the head coach at UTSA, was a two-year letterman at OSU. He was also a member of the basketball staff as director of operations during the 2001-02 season.
