Quick Notes
Oklahoma State will open the 2007-08 Big 12 Conference portion of its schedule by hosting Texas Tech. It will mark the fifth time in 12 seasons that OSU has opened league play at home, and the fourth time that the Cowboys and Red Raiders have faced each other in the conference opener. OSU is 2-1 in those previous three openers.
Oklahoma State is 6-5 in Big 12 openers and 8-3 in Big 12 home lid-lifters. The Cowboys have also won 18 of their last 21 games at home against Big 12 South Division foes.
This will mark OSUs 10th regular-season appearance on CBS, including the fourth against Texas Tech on that particular network. The Cowboys are 26-19 all-time in CBS televised games.
Excluding Oklahoma States 11-point victory in Stillwater two years ago, the scoring margin in four of the last five games has been 2.5 points. OSU won by four and two points, while the Red Raiders outscored the Pokes by two points in each of their last two victories.
Series History with the Red Raiders
This will be the 40th meeting between these two schools on the hardwood all-time, and the 27th meeting since they both joined the Big 12 Conference.
OSU is 27-12 all-time vs. Texas Tech and 18-8 since the Big 12 formed.
The Cowboys have won seven of the last nine games in the series and nine of the last 10 played in Stillwater.
Two of the last four games in the series have gone into overtime, and both times the scores ended up in the 90s. The Red Raiders defeated the Cowboys 92-90 in overtime in Lubbock two seasons ago, and OSU pulled out a 93-91 double-overtime victory over Tech in Stillwater last season.
Only four members of Oklahoma States current squad have ever played Tech and head coach Bob Knight. In fact, senior Tyler Hatch has as many starts against the Red Raiders two as do third-year players Byron Eaton and Terrel Harris. Senior Marcus Dove has only played Texas Tech three times twice last season and once during his freshman year.
Since the three-point line was instituted prior to the 1987-88 season, OSU has held its opponent to zero made three pointers on 14 occasions, including six inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The last time OSU prevented a team from making a three pointer was Texas Tech on Jan. 8, 2005. The last time an opponent failed to connect on a three-point attempt inside Gallagher-Iba Arena was Texas Tech on Feb. 24, 2003.
