Cowgirl Basketball Nabs Preseason Ranking
September 18, 2007 | Cowgirl Basketball
Coming off a breakthrough season in 2007, the Cowgirls checked in at No. 23 and were joined by Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M in the poll.
“I think it is a great honor and says a lot about the direction our program is headed,” Cowgirl head coach Kurt Budke said. “It is exciting for our team to be recognized by such a prestigious basketball publication. However, I have been in this game long enough to know the poll that matters most is the one at the end of the year.”
OSU finished last season with a 20-11 record and as the most improved team in the nation. The Cowgirls capped their second season under Budke with their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1996.
OSU returns six players from last year's squad, including the Big 12 Freshman of the Year Andrea Riley and honorable mention All-Big 12 selection Danielle Green.
The Cowgirls will get their regular season underway on Nov. 9 when they host Air Force in Stillwater.
