Cowboy Netters Garner Preseason Rankings

All four returning members of Oklahoma State's men's tennis squad were among the players to appear in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason singles and doubles national rankings it was announced this week.
Leading the way was sophomore Oleksandr Nedovyesov, who checked in at No. 11. The Alushta, Ukraine native enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season that saw him earn Big 12 Freshman and Newcomer of the Year honors. In addition, Nedovyesov was a unanimous all-conference selection and was chosen as the Central Region Rookie of the Year and its player to watch.
Senior Ivan Puchkarov earned a top-15 ranking as well, coming in at No. 15. The Simfevopol, Ukraine native was also tabbed as a unanimous all-conference selection last season and was the co-Big 12 champion at No. 2 singles.
Rounding out the group of Cowboys in the singles rankings was sophomore Dmytro Petrov. Ranked No. 117 in singles, the Kiev, Ukraine native teamed with Puchkarov last season to win the conference title at No. 3 doubles.
The distinction marks the first time in school history three players have started the season nationally ranked.
OSU also had a pair of doubles teams ranked in the top 50, with Nedovyesov and Petrov holding the No. 34 spot and Puchkarov and junior Nathan Byrnes nine places back at No. 43.
Head coach James Wadley's team is coming off a 19-5 season that ended with a berth in the Sweet 16 and a No. 11 national ranking, the highest end-of-season ranking in the history of the program.
