Curry Drafted by the Chicago Bulls
June 29, 2007 | Cowboy Basketball
As a junior last year, Curry averaged 17.3 points and 3.7 assists per game.
He is the first Cowboy to be selected in the second round since Corey Williams was drafted by the Bulls in the 1992 draft. Williams was taken as the 33rd overall pick.
Since that time, five other Cowboys have been drafted. They are: Brooks Thompson, the 27th overall pick by the Orlando Magic in 1994; Bryant Reeves, the sixth overall selection by the Vancouver Grizzlies in 1995; Desmond Mason, the 17th pick by the Seattle Supersonics in 2000; Tony Allen, the 27th selection by Boston in the 2004 draft; and Joey Graham, the 16th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in 2005.
Seven former Cowboys were listed on NBA rosters at one point or another last season. Besides Mason, Allen and Graham, the others were: Stephen Graham, John Lucas, Ivan McFarlin and Melvin Sanders.
Curry is the first OSU player to forego his final season to be eligible for the draft since Thomas Jordan did it in 1989. The only other player in school history to leave early for the draft was Joe Atkinson in 1985.
