Andrea Riley Named To Gballmag.com Young All-America Team
May 02, 2007 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State freshman guard Andrea Riley has been named to the fourth annual Gballmag.com Young All-America Team which is comprised of freshmen that played significant roles for their respective women's basketball teams in their first collegiate action.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Riley helped the Cowgirls to a 20-11 mark this past season and their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1996. Along the way, she was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year after leading the league's freshmen in scoring, steals and assists.
A three-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week selection, Riley played in 30 games and finished as the squad's leading scorer at 12.8 points per game. In addition, her 149 assists set a new school mark for freshman and rank fourth on the school's single-season assist chart.
Riley added her name to the OSU record book just eight games into her rookie campaign after connecting on 40 consecutive free throws to snap a school record that had stood for eight seasons.
Riley was one of two Big 12 players to make the 13-player squad, joining Baylor's Danielle Wilson.
