Cowgirls Finish Second at Big 12 Championships

OSU held a four-stroke lead over the Aggies entering the final round, but A&M senior Ashley Knoll carded just the second sub-par round of the tournament with a 71 as the Aggies won by five strokes. Texas A&M finished with a 911 while the Cowgirls finished with a 916. Baylor finished third with a 918.
Four Cowgirls finished in the top-10 individually, each garnering all-tournament team honors. Freshman Sarah Bradley and sophomore Pernilla Lindberg tied for fourth place with Kelly Jacques of Oklahoma and Texas A&M's Danielle McVeigh. Those four finished with a three-round total of 229, eight strokes behind individual champion Amanda Costner of Kansas (221). Knoll finished second with a 224, while Nebraska's Elli Brown finished third at 225.
Two other OSU golfers tied for eighth. Sophomores Karin Kinnerud and Amanda Johnson each finished with a 230 and tied Baylor's Hannah Burke and Maddie Augustsson of Missouri for eighth place.
Nebraska finished fourth at 936 and Oklahoma rounded out the top-five teams with a three-day total of 937.
The tournament victory is Texas A&M's second-straight championship and third since the Big 12 was formed in 1996-97. OSU owns five Big 12 Championship titles, the most by any team in the league.
Oklahoma State now awaits the announcement of the NCAA Regional field. Regionals will take place May 10-12 in three predetermined sites. The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship will take place May 22-25 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
