April 17, 2007 | Cowboy Tennis
Oklahoma State's men's tennis team (15-1, 3-0) is ranked seventh in the latest Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tuesday. The ranking is the highest in the program's history.
Earlier this season, OSU was ranked No. 9 which was the program's highest ranking up to that date. The Cowboys are winners of their last 11, the program's longest winning streak since 1987-88 when OSU won a school-record 18 straight. Over the last eight outings, the Pokes have outscored their opponents 43-7.
In the individual rankings, Ivan Puchkarov stayed at No. 26 while Oleksandr Nedovyesov moved up two spots to No. 30. Puchkarov is the third highest ranked player in the Big 12. Nedovyesov has won his last 10 matches, all in straight sets, and has been named the Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week three times this season.
The Cowboys have a challenging weekend ahead as they will travel to Waco, Texas, Friday to face No. 4 Baylor at 6 p.m. They will then head to Lubbock, Texas, to face No. 42 Texas Tech Sunday at 1 p.m.
