For the third time this season, Cowboy tennis player Oleksandr Nedovyesov has been named the Big 12's Men's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
The freshman has now won the award three out of a possible seven weeks. He is also the only player this season to win the award multiple times.
Nedovyesov won two matches at No. 1 singles this week and helped the Cowboys push their win streak to 11. On Friday, the Alushta, Ukraine native, defeated Texas' Dimitar Kutrovksy, 6-0, 7-6 (5). The 14th-ranked Cowboys beat the Longhorns, ranked No. 13, 6-1.
On Sunday, Nedovyesov downed No. 67 Jerry Makowski of Texas A&M in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. He has now won his last 10 matches, all in straight sets, and is tied for the team lead in wins with 13.
The Cowboys will put their win streak on the line when they travel to Waco, Texas, to take on the fourth-ranked Baylor Bears Friday.
