The sixth-seeded Cowgirls (20-10 overall, 8-8 Big 12) couldn't overcome a sluggish offensive performance in the second half that saw them hit just 19 percent from the floor en route to their first loss in seven games this season against Big 12 North opponents.
No. 11 seed Kansas (11-19, 4-12) ran out to a 16-7 lead before OSU answered with an 11-0 run to start a back and forth battle for the remainder of the half. The Cowgirls led by two before freshman Andrea Riley drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send OSU into the break with a 41-36 lead.
The Cowgirls managed just four points through the first eight minutes and stayed within one possession with under three minutes to go before KU's Danielle McCray nailed a 3-pointer and the Jayhawks made nine of their 10 free throws in the final minute to put the game away.
In the half, OSU was held to just six field goals, including a 1-of-16 effort from the 3-point line.
