Cowboy Tennis Continues to Roll, Blanks SMU

Oklahoma State's 16th-ranked men's tennis team continued its outstanding play as they picked up their sixth-straight win Saturday by downing No. 70 SMU, 4-0, at the Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas.
The Cowboys (10-1) have now won four straight against SMU (7-8). OSU's lone loss this year came against No. 7 Illinois, 4-2, in Chicago at National Indoors.
OSU took an early advantage after grabbing the doubles point for the fourth-straight match.
At No. 1 doubles, OSU's 83rd-ranked duo of Daniel Byrnes and Oleksandr Nedovyesov defeated Alex Skrypko and Federico Murgier, 8-5. The pair is now 7-4 this season and have won three of their last four.
At No. 3 doubles, Ivan Puchkarov and Dymtro Petrov also continued their solid play as they downed David Kuczer and Adolfo Solares, 8-3, to win their fourth match in the last five outings.
The Pokes got wins at No. 1, 4 and 6 singles to complete the shut out against SMU.
Nedovyesov, ranked 57th, picked up his fifth-straight win and fourth win over a ranked foe as he won at No. 1 singles against Skrypko, 6-4, 6-2. All of the freshman's five-straight wins have come in straight sets.
Senior Artie Burmistrau stayed unbeaten at No. 6 singles as he was victorious over Solares, 6-2, 6-0. It was Burmistrau's fourth-straight win.
Dymtro Petrov clinched the win with his play at No. 4 singles. The freshman defeated Oivind Alver, 6-3, 6-4. Petrov now sports an 8-1 record this season with his lone loss coming in a third-set tiebreaker.
The Cowboys will put their win streak on the line when they host No. 22 Tulsa in a huge instate showdown Tuesday at the DeBois Tennis Center in Stillwater.
