Lady Netters Shutout Oral Roberts to Win Fifth Straight

Oklahoma State's 40th-ranked women's tennis team is now 5-0 after beating Oral Roberts, 4-0, at the DeBois Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla., on Wednesday.
The Cowgirls are off to the programs best start since the 2003 season when the Cowgirls also started 5-0 and later would go on to win the Big 12 Championship. 5-0 is also the best start for OSU under head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski.
OSU took an early led when they grabbed the doubles point for the fourth time in five matches.
At No. 3 doubles, Jennifer Poskitt and Marta Tsivka were on the court for under 30 minutes as they cruised to an, 8-0, win against Rafaela de Souza and Deborah Skinstad. At No. 1 doubles, Lauren Simmons and Iryna Tkachenko clinched the doubles point by downing Emily Arkell and Taylor Pippen, 8-5.
At No. 2 doubles, Yawna Allen and Nataliya Shatkovskaya beat Paige McKinney and Hayden Rush, 8-5, to remain unbeaten this spring.
It was all O-State in singles play as none of the Cowgirls dropped a set. At the No. 1 spot, Tkachenko dropped Arkell in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, to continue her outstanding play this season. The junior is now 5-0 this spring and has yet to yield a set.
Another Cowgirl stayed undefeated this season as Shatkovskaya beat Pippen, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 singles to move her record to 4-0.
At the No. 4 position, Simmons found herself down early to Rush but quickly got it going to win, 6-4, 6-0.
The Cowgirls will next be in action when they host No. 53 Texas Tech this Sunday at the DeBois Tennis Center at 11 a.m. in a pivotal early Big 12 match.
