No. 14 Cowboys Down Fresno State to Win Fourth Straight

Oklahoma State's 14th-ranked men's tennis team downed No. 45 Fresno State (2-2), 5-2, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa on Sunday to improve their record to 4-0.
The Cowboys continued their strong play in doubles as the won at the No. 1 and No. 2 position to win the point. OSU has won the doubles point in every match so far this season.
At No. 1 doubles, Daniel Byrnes and Oleksandr Nedovyesov stayed unbeaten by defeating Jakub Cech and Mirko Zapletal, 8-4.
At No. 2 doubles, Artie Burmistrau teamed with Oleksandr Kotsiuk, filling in for Nathan Byrnes, to down the FSU tandem of Taylor Lieby and Rudolph Siwy, 8-3.
The most impressive performance of the day may have come at No. 1 singles where Nedovyesov continued his strong play in his first season of college tennis. The newcomer quickly put away the 26th-ranked Cech, 6-0, 6-2. Nedovyesov is now 3-1 in his young career with two wins over ranked opponents. His lone loss came against
The Bulldogs first win of the day came at No. 3 singles where Zapletal defeated Byrnes in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. It was one of four matches on the day that would extend to three sets.
FSU briefly took the lead after Tajesvi Veerepalli defeated Burmistrau, 6-3, 0-6, 6-3, at the No. 5 position.
The Pokes rebounded to take the next three matches starting at No. 4 singles and newcomer Dymtro Petrov. Like Nedovyesov, Petrov has had an outstanding start to his Cowboy career. After losing the first set to Charles Irie, 6-3, the freshman cruised in the next two sets, 6-0, 6-1. Petrov is now 4-0 in his first season of college tennis.
The match was clinched at the No. 2 position where No. 3-ranked Puchkarov defeated Siwy in straight sets, 7-6 (5), 6-2. It was one of just two matches that did not go to a third set on the day.
Kotsiuk put the finishing touches on the win for O-State in his first singles action of the year. The sophomore pulled out of hard fought third set to win his match at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
