No. 14 Cowboy Tennis to Take on Fresno State

Oklahoma State's 14th-ranked men's tennis team will face No. 45 Fresno State Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.
“Fresno State is a good team with depth,” head coach James Wadley said. “Their No. 1 player defeated Daniel (Byrnes) at the Polo All-American Tournament. This would be a tough match for our team but with the weather and how it has effected our practice, it will just make it that much tougher.”
The Bulldogs are coached by Jay Udwadia, who is in his third season at FSU, and they are currently 2-0 this season with wins against Cal-Poly and Loyola Marymount.
The Bulldogs are led by No. 26 Jakub Cech, who is 1-1 in the spring. Cech upset Byrnes, then-ranked 11th, at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championship in the fall, 6-4, 7-6 (5). FSU's doubles tandem of Charles Irie and Tejesui Veerepalli are ranked No. 44 in the country. The pair are 2-0 this season with a match each at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
The Cowboys are 3-0 this season with victories coming against No. 27 Tulsa, No. 60 Oklahoma and No. 47 Louisiana-Lafayette. The highest-ranked Cowboy is Ivan Puchkarov, ranked No. 3, who has played No. 2 singles so far this season and is 2-1. Newcomer Oleksandr Nedovyesov has played at the No. 1 spot and is also 2-1.
