Postgame Quotes vs. Northwestern State

Oklahoma State Head Coach Sean Sutton
On the game
This was a solid win. I thought we were better at the defensive end. We were more aware. I challenged them before the game to hold them between 40 and 45 points. I was trying to make them concentrate and make each possession count where we didn't give up easy baskets and open shots and baskets in transition. I think Northwestern State is tired from being on the road. They have a younger team like we do. But it was a solid win and hopefully we can build on this and play this well or better Wednesday night.
I thought at first our players were a little sluggish early in the game. I know they're tired as much as we've practiced the last three days and it showed up on some of their jump shots. We were able to generate some good plays and the people that were here got into the game. The important thing is that we stayed focused on the defensive end and didn't let down our guard. I thought we moved the ball a lot better the second half and shared the ball a lot more.
On players coming off the bench
I thought Obi (Muonelo) came in and was more aggressive. He was going towards the basket and that's something he's done a better job with in practice. I thought Martavius (Adams) came in and did some good things. Tyler Hatch played well. He's been practicing better and he's somebody that is a bal mover on offense, he screens well, he's a solid defender and he keeps balls alive in terms of rebounding. Those three guys plus Nick (Sidorakis) did some good things. I'm pleased that they were able to play well.
Senior Forward Marcus Dove
On the crowd
We realized we had to create our own energy and the crowd that was here did a good job of cheering us on. We really didn't pay that much attention to (the smaller crowd). We just wanted to go out there, work hard, play hard, and get a win.
On this last week of practice
Practice has been competitive. If there was a word for something tougher than tough, that would be it. It was real tough and it went really long. It was really competitive with a lot of energy and that is what we need to get better and get ready for conference and the remaining non-conference schedule.
On winning comfortably after a string of close games
It was good to get back to that feeling. We havent had that feeling since the two games at the very beginning of our schedule. For us to be able to joke around on the bench, and get Scott Warner, the walk-on, in there and get him a basket - it was fun to get back to that atmosphere.
Freshman Guard James Anderson
On getting back in an offensive rhythm
It felt good getting back and getting some numbers up on the board. Our big men set some better screens this game. We moved the ball around the floor pretty well and got some buckets in transition.
