Quick Notes
This will be the first meeting between Coach Sean Sutton and his brother, Scott, as head coaches. However, they were both members of their respective staffs when OSU and ORU played the last five games of the series. The Cowboys have won four of those five games.
Sean and Scott were both a part of the Cowboy Basketball program on two occasions. Scott was a redshirt during Seans senior season in 1991-92. Sean returned as an assistant coach during the 1993-94 season, Scotts senior year.
There were four current NCAA Division I head coaches involved in the OSU program in 1993-94. Scott Sutton and Brooks Thompson, the head coach at UTSA, were seniors, while Sean Sutton and John Pelphrey, now the head coach at Arkansas, were both assistant coaches.
Oklahoma State has won 10 of the last 11 meetings with Oral Roberts.
Oklahoma State is playing its ninth-consecutive televised game. The ORU game will be the sixth game in that span to be on either ESPN or espn2.
Series History with ORU
This will be the 20th meeting between these two schools, with Oklahoma State holding a 15-4 edge in the series.
Three of the four losses for OSU in the series occurred in Tulsa.
This will be the first time a game between these two teams has been played on a neutral court. Ten games have been played in Stillwater and nine in Tulsa.
The 124 points scored by the Cowboys on Jan. 18, 1989, are the fourth-most in a single game in school history. That game also marked the highest scoring game in OSU history as the two teams combined for 222 points. ORU led 60-53 at halftime, which also marked the most points by two teams in a half in school history.
Five different Cowboys have scored at least 30 points against ORU. Along with Fred Burleys school record 35 on March 4, 1993, Richard Dumas (Jan. 18, 1989) and Brooks Thompson (March 4, 1993) both scored 33 points. Bryant Reeves scored 31 on March 4, 1993 as well, and Byron Houston scored 30 on Jan. 25, 1992.
