Cowgirl Basketball Suffers First Loss of Season At TCU

The 20th-ranked Cowgirls (8-1) faced a deficit at the half for the first time all season despite shooting 48 percent as TCU (5-6) took advantage of eight offensive rebounds and 18 points from Lorie Butler-Rayford to build a 46-39 lead at the break.
OSU trailed 32-25 with 6:57 remaining in the half before using a 12-3 run to grab the lead. However, the Lady Frogs closed the half with an 11-2 run of their own to rebuild the seven-point margin at 46-39.
TCU continued its surge in the second half, extending the lead throughout the period and never letting the Cowgirls get on track offensively. Overall, the Lady Frogs shot 53 percent from the floor and owning a 46-28 scoring advantage in the paint.
In the final 20 minutes, OSU scored just 24 points while shooting 29 percent from the floor.
Junior Shaunte' Smith led the Cowgirls with 16 points, connecting on eight of her 10 shots. Senior Danielle Green added 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds before fouling out at the 8:25 mark.
The Lady Frogs were led offensively by Butler-Rayford, who finished with a game-high 30 points on a 13-of-15 effort from the floor. Helena Sverrisdottir added 17 points, while Adrianne Ross and Helen Roden were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
