Cowgirls Head To Lone Star State For Two Road Contests
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (8-0) will resume play after a two-week layoff when it travels to Texas for a pair of contests this week. The 22nd-ranked Cowgirls will take on TCU (4-6) on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. before facing North Texas (5-6) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
About The Lady Frogs
TCU will be looking to bounce back from an 80-76 overtime loss at Florida on Sunday. In the setback, Adrianne Ross scored a career-high 38 points. Ross currently paces the squad at 16 points per game. The Lady Frogs are 4-2 at home this season after an 85-55 victory over Coppin State on Dec. 8. The Cowgirls will be the fourth ranked opponent TCU has faced this season.
About The Mean Green
North Texas finds itself in the midst of a four-game losing streak after falling on Dec. 8 at Valparaiso. UNT opened the season with back-to-back losses before reeling off a five-game winning streak prior to its current four-game slide. Amber Jackson leads a trio of players scoring in double figures with her 14 points per game, while Brittney James and Jo Hall are averaging 11.9 and 11.4, respectively.
For Starters
For the second consecutive season, OSU has won its first eight games. The strings are the program's longest since a 10-game streak to start the 1995-96 campaign.
The Series X 2
The Cowgirls and Lady Frogs have met just twice previously with OSU winning both contests. This week's trip will be the first to Ft. Worth for the Cowgirls. Both previous meetings took place in Stillwater with the last coming on Jan. 1, 1994. OSU has won nine of its 10 meetings with North Texas, including a 79-67 victory in the 2001 WNIT. The Cowgirls are 2-1 all-time in Denton with their lone loss to UNT coming in their last trip on Dec. 9, 1989.
