Andrea Riley Named Big 12 Player of the Week
November 27, 2007 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week by a media voting panel for games played from Nov. 19-25.
The Dallas, Texas native helped the Cowgirls improve to 6-0 on the year after directing OSU to road victories against UC Riverside and Fresno State. In those two games, Riley averaged 30 points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
Against the Highlanders on Wednesday, Riley scored a career-high 28 points, including a career-high four 3-pointers, before surpassing the mark with a 32-point performance against the Bulldogs on Saturday.
Against Fresno State, the 5-5 sophomore guard hit 10 of her 20 shots and 10 of her 14 free throws, while scoring 22 of her 32 points in the second half. With her point total, Riley became the first Cowgirl to eclipse the 30-point mark in a game since Whitney Pegram in December of 2005.
In addition, Riley now has a string of 16 consecutive double-figure scoring games to her credit.
A three-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week last season, Riley is the first Cowgirl to receive player of the week honors since Trisha Skibbe was tabbed with the distinction in 2004.
Riley and the Cowgirls will be back in action on Thursday night when they host Arkansas State at 7 p.m.
